Q. 1. What did the two women discuss? Were they related to each other?

Ans. The two women discussed about the town life and village life. They were sister.

ਦੋਵੇਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਰਚਾ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਭੈਣਾਂ ਸਨ।

Q. 2. What did one woman say in defense or rural life? What was the counter argument?

Ans. She said that rural ( ਰੂਰਲ - ਪੇਂਡੂ ) life is free from worries.

ਉਸ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੇਂਡੂ ( ਰੂਰਲ - ) ਜੀਵਨ ਚਿੰਤਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮੁਕਤ ਹੈ।

Ans. He reached the conclusion ( ਕਨਕਲੁਜਨ - ਨਤੀਜਾ/ਸਿੱਟਾ)if he had enough land his life would be free from worries.

Ans. His neighbors bought fifty acres. Pakhom bought forty acres.

ਉਸਦੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਹ ਏਕੜ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਖਰੀਦੀ। ਪਖੋਮ ਨੇ ਚਾਲੀ ਏਕੜ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਖਰੀਦੀ।

Ans. He sold his colt ( ਬਛੜਾ )  and some bees. He borrowed  money from his brother-in-law.

ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਮਧੂ-ਮੱਖੀਆਂ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ। ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਪੈਸੇ ਉਧਾਰ ਲਏ।

Ans. He was a peasant. He said that the land beyond Volga was very good.

ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਸੀ। ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵੋਲਗਾ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਬਹੁਤ ਚੰਗੀ ਸੀ।

Ans. He told that Bashkirs wanted to sell their land.He told that he could buy a land at very low price.

ਉਸਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਬਸ਼ਕੀਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਵੇਚਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਸਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਘੱਟ ਕੀਮਤ 'ਤੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਖਰੀਦ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

Ans. Bashkirs were simple people. They lived in tents. Pakhom gave them gifts to make them friends.

ਬਸ਼ਕੀਰ ਸਾਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਤੰਬੂਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਪਾਖੋਮ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੋਸਤ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਤੋਹਫ਼ੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ।

Ans. Pakhom wanted their land from them. It was his main purpose to come there.

ਪਖੋਮ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਉੱਥੇ ਆਉਣਾ ਉਸਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਕਸਦ ਸੀ।

Ans. It meant one could buy as much land as one could cover on foot in a day.

ਇਸਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਦਿਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਓਨੀ ਹੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਖਰੀਦ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ ਜਿੰਨੀ ਪੈਦਲ ਚੱਲ ਕੇ ਕਵਰ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ।

Ans. The condition was that Pakhom had to come back to starting point before sunset.
