Stanza 1 :- 

 I am the heat of your hearth on the cold winter nights, the friendly shade

Screening you from the summer sun and my fruits are refreshing draughts

quenching your thirst as you journey on.

I am the beam that holds your house, the board of your table, the bed on

Which you lie, and the timber that built your boat.

Explanation:

The tree says that its wood burns the fire in the fireplaces of men. When the fire burns, the cold of the winter season keeps off. The tree also provides pleasant shade to human beings and keeps the heat of the summer season away. As the travellers move on during their travel in the summer season, the juice from the juicy fruits of trees keeps them refreshed and less tired. Timber of the trees supports the roofs of houses. It makes boards for tables. Beds on which we sleep are also made from wood. Wood is also used in making boats.

ਵਿਆਖਿਆ: 

ਰੁੱਖ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸਦੀ ਲੱਕੜ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੱਗ ਬਾਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਅੱਗ ਬਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਸਰਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੀ ਠੰਢ ਦੂਰ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਰੁੱਖ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਹਾਵਣਾ ਛਾਂ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਦੀ ਗਰਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਵੇਂ-ਜਿਵੇਂ ਯਾਤਰੀ ਗਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੌਸਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਦੇ ਹਨ, ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸੀਲੇ ਫਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਜ਼ਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਘੱਟ ਥਕਾਵਟ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੱਕੜ ਘਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਛੱਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਮੇਜ਼ਾਂ ਲਈ ਬੋਰਡ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਿਸਤਰਿਆਂ 'ਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਸੌਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਲੱਕੜ ਤੋਂ ਬਣੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਕਿਸ਼ਤੀਆਂ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਲੱਕੜ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

Stanza :- 2

I am the handle of your hoe, the door of your homestead, the wood of your

cradle and the shell of your coffin.

I am the bread of kindness and the flower of beauty. Ye, who pass by, listen to my prayer :

Harm me not.

Explanation:

The speaker here tells the human being that he is the wooden handle of his garden tools with which the soil is broken. He also serves the purpose of the door of his house. He provides wood for the cradle for the new born baby and coffin for the dead. He also teaches the lesson of kindness and beauty. So he requests human beings not to harm the trees grown in the forest.

ਇੱਥੇ ਬੁਲਾਰਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਾਗ਼ ਦੇ ਸੰਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੱਕੜ ਦਾ ਹੈਂਡਲ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਤੋੜੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਨਵੇਂ ਜੰਮੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਲਈ ਪੰਘੂੜੇ ਲਈ ਲੱਕੜ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਰਦਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਤਾਬੂਤ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਦਿਆਲਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਬਕ ਵੀ ਸਿਖਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਜੰਗਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਗੇ ਰੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਨਾ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਣ।

Prayer of the Woods Central Idea:-

This poem is based on the idea that trees serve man in various ways. The wood from trees is used in winter for warmth. Trees provide shade in summer and juicy fruits to travellers to satisfy thirst. Buildings, boats, and furniture use wood. Wood is used by mạn from birth to death. Trees also teach us the value of kindness and beauty. Trees appeal very humbly to men not to harm them.
